"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." (CCC 1213)
Congratulations! New life is a great blessing. We are delighted to assist you in bringing your child(ren) to life in Christ and His Church through the sacrament of baptism.
Infant Baptisms are typically scheduled during or immediately after weekend Masses.
Our parish offers Baptismal Preparation Classes to help parents (and Godparents!) grow in their understanding of the sacrament of Baptism.
To get started, please contact Ann O'Leary, (608)-325-9506.Please see Becoming Catholic (O.C.I.A.) or contact Ann O'Leary, (608)325-9506.
Here at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, most children prepare to receive their First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the second grade. Older children who have not yet received these sacraments, or may not be baptized, participate in formation to prepare for their sacraments and a full life in the Church. Please contact Celine Peterson, (608) 325-9506 for more information.
The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." (CCC 1285)
We are excited to journey with you and your family as you prepare for this great sacrament which completes Baptismal grace and prepares each individual with strength from the Holy Spirit for a life in Christ. Know that this is a journey and it does not stop upon completion of the Sacrament. Please read the information below and if you have any questions feel free to reach out!
Please do NOT register your teen for Confirmation. Since Confirmation is a life-long commitment of living out the Catholic Faith, only those who are already actively living the life of discipleship in the Catholic Church are to present themselves for Confirmation.
Instead of registering, your teen (not you), is to complete the APPLICATION and interview process to demonstrate whether they are attending Holy Mass, praying daily, believe the teachings of the Church, and are trying to live Christian lives. If they are not ready to make this commitment this year, they should participate in Youth Ministry, strive to grow in their relationship with God, and apply next semester or next year.

Please download the application on this page. If your child is interested in applying, they should return it to the office or Fr. Chahm. The deadline is September 24th. Once your teen has applied, interviewed, and been admitted into Confirmation preparation, we will ask you to register at that point.
All teens in the Confirmation Preparation program are also expected to attend at least one youth ministry event per Trimester.
Please contact Celine Peterson, (608)-325-9506 for any further questions about Confirmation.

"At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet 'in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us. The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." (CCC 1323-1324)
As Catholic Christians, we look to the Eucharist as the source and summit of our life in Christ. Please join us in celebrating the real presence of our Lord in our midst!
At St. Clare of Assisi Parish, children typically prepare to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time in the second grade, following two years of preparation at St. Victor School or in our Faith Formation program.
We hold registrations for our Faith Formation program each year in the summer/fall. Our Youth page has information regarding registration: check it out here.
Please contact Celine Peterson, (608) - 325 - 9506 for any questions or to begin Eucharistic preparation. Please see Becoming Catholic (O.C.I.A.) or contact Ann O'Leary, (608)325-9506.
"Those who approach the sacrament of Reconciliation obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion." (CCC 1422)
There are several opportunities weekly to have your Confessions heard. Use the schedule here to find a time that works for you.
Parish reconciliation services, which include communal prayer and individual confessions, are offered during Advent and Lent.
"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ." (CCC 1499)
The Anointing of the Sick "is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived."
In this sacrament the priest anoints the forehead and palms of hands with oil that has been blessed by the bishop. The oil symbolizes and invites healing prayer for strength and hope and a greater awareness of God’s love. As the priest does this, he prays: “Through this holy anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and raise you up.”
Last Rites is the common name given to the three Sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession), Anointing of the Sick, and the Eucharist as Viaticum (the last Holy Communion) which are offered when able near or at the point of death.
Please call the Monroe parish office at (608)-325-9506 or Belleville parish office at (608)-424-3831 for any Anointing or Last Rites request.
"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." (CCC 1601)
Jesus lifted marriage to the level of a sacrament, revealing the love of God for us and Christ’s love for the Church. It is a sacred covenant and lifelong commitment between a man and woman.

"Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate." (CCC 1536)
Discernment is a common, natural, exciting, and yet sometimes scary process. Everyone considering a call from our Lord experiences a time of discernment. If you are considering the possibility of priesthood or religious life, or would like more information please contact Fr. Dave and/or Fr.
